David's Mighty Men

I have been studying the life of David in 1,2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles. This morning I came across the passage in 1 Chron. 11:10-47, where it gives us a list of David's Migthy Men. It says in v. 10 "These were the chiefs of David's mighty men... they gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land....
- Jashobeam... he raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter
- Eleazar... he was with David when the Philistines gathered there for battle... the troops fled from the Philistines, but they took their stand in the middle of the field. They defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory...
Well, the list goes on and on with stories about this men that were willing to fight for and next to David, and because of them, the Lord gave them great victories.

I was thinking.... David is the one we all hear about... but would he have won all those victories without those mighty men at his side? Probably not!

Of course, I dare not compare myself with King David, but I see a principle here that I think applies well to our situation. Yes, we are "the missionaries"... People receive our letters telling them of the great things God is doing in Chile... but would I see all those great things happen if the prayer warriors and supporters were not at our side? Probably not!

Every time God does amazing things, he uses a team of people. The greatest evangelists and preachers in history had a team of prayer warriors.

David's mighty men defeated many enemies (v.11), took their stand in the middle of a field that they thought should be part of David's kingdom and defended it (v.14)... they were brave warriors, ready for battle and able to handle the shield and spear (12:8b)

Well, I know we have some of those as part of our team. I know some amazing prayer warriors that tell us that are praying for us... hearing that, we know that we will win the battles we encounter every day.

To all those prayer warriors THANK YOU! You are winning many battles in prayer so we can see the victory here! Keep praying!
